Mr. Griffith has over thirty years of specialized legal experience in counseling Southern California public and private companies on international and domestic business transactions and litigation. Mr. Griffith started his practice in 1980 with Higgs, Fletcher & Mack, the third largest law firm in San Diego, California as a business associate. In 1982 he transferred to Century City, California to become an associate with Resch, Polster, Alpert & Berger. While at this firm he primarily coordinated the legal services for the firm's largest public syndication clients in the United States. During the period through 1988 he worked directly with major investment banking firms and underwriters’ counsel to coordinate over one dozen public and approximately 50 private placement stock, LP, LLC and REIT offerings.
From 1988 through 1993 he was counsel to Cal Coast Homes, LLC, Los Angeles, California where he handled transactional and litigation work for a major Southern California builder.
From 1994 to the present time Mr. Griffith has been the operator of the Law Office of David M. Griffith, a Professional Corporation, in Long Beach, California where he practices business law and litigation with a focus on small and medium sized public and private companies ("SMEs"). As a business attorney he has acted as general counsel for two American Stock Exchange (AMEX) listed companies, MAI Systems Corporation and Saba Petroleum Company, and one NASDAQ listed company, Bridge Technology, Inc., handling their 1933 and 1934 Act securities work, international transactions, litigation and general business matters, including intellectual property, human resources and contracts.
He provides a full service approach for his client base through his association as ‘Of Counsel’ with Kring & Chung, LLP, an Irvine, California based international business transactions and litigation firm with six offices in California, Nevada and Arizona (www.KringandChung.com). His current client list represents a broad cross section of Southern California public and private companies, many of them engaged in international business.
Mr. Griffith was educated at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia (J.D., 1980) where he was a Member of the William and Mary Law Review and the recipient of two AmJur prizes for scholastic achievement (Corporate Law and Criminal Procedure). He received his undergraduate education from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina (B.A., 1974), cum laude where he was on the Dean’s List and Class Honor Roll for academic performance. He is a Member of the State Bar of California (International and Business Sections); the Los Angeles County Bar Association (International and Business Sections where he serves as a member of the Executive Committee and Secretary of the International Section and the prior Vice Chairman of this Section's Strategic Planning Committee); and the Los Angeles, Orange County and Inland Empire Asian Business Associations..
